Welcome to the Alternative Veterinary Medicine Centre
Herbal Vet providing Herbal
Medicine for Animals - Putting the Patient First
Founded by holistic vet and herbal vet
Christopher Day in 1987, the AVMC has been delivering holistic, natural
and alternative (complementary) medicine for animals of all species, breeds and types. Chris Day, Practice Principal,
is a herbal vet, homeopathic vet and holistic vet of over 38 years experience in the field.
At
the AVMC, we have striven for more than 23 years for the well-being and welfare of our patients,
offering a range of therapeutic options to suit the individual and circumstance. Veterinary herbal medicine takes its place
among these. We hold herb vet consultation sessions at the premises (usually on Mondays and
Thursdays) and we travel widely in the UK on the other days, to visit animals, including horses, farm animals, dogs, cats,
donkeys, goats and birds, at their home location.
We offer video consultations in support of local veterinary practices, for those who are too distant to travel, who live abroad or who cannot travel to
us for other reasons. This service is also available for horses.

Herb vet at work
We use herbs (plant medicines, phytotherapy), in addition to acupuncture, homeopathy, natural
feeding, chiropractic etc. We believe that herbs should not be subjected to analysis, extraction and purification of supposed
'active ingredients', in order to create 'new' medicines. We believe that herbal medicines are safer and more
effective in their natural 'whole' state, as nature intended. We also favour the use of indigenous herbal medicines
in preference to those sourced from another continent (e.g. Indian Herbs or Chinese Herbs), as it appears logical to assume
that an indigenous herb is more suited to the animals that have been conceived, grown and developed in this continent,
climate, geography, geology etc. than one that has grown in a wholly different energy continuum.
Herbal medicine
is the oldest therapy known to mankind and is still effective today.
Herb vet medicine is, of course, ideally suited
to herbivorous animals (e.g. horses, ponies, donkeys, goats) but is also valuable in dogs and cats.
